We purchased some windows from galaxie home remodeling, 21 as a matter of fact. The day that they installed the windows one set of windows were the wrong ones they were supposed to be frosted, they were not. One of the windows that they installed was broken when they brought it up stairs. The installer said that when they bring back the right windows (the frosted one) they would put one of other windows where the cracked one was. Well when the right window came in they install the frosted one, but when they try to replaced the cracked window with a good one the window did not fit so they but the cracked window back in and never returned.

Galaxie told that there was an issue about who would pay for the new window the manufacturer or them well i still did not get what paid for. Also when the installer were taking out the old windows they broken some of piece of wood that help hold in the windows, some of the wood was chip away the make the windows fit, they left some windows with insulation right there in plain sight that look so back. Some windows were capped and some were not once again a big eye sore. The salesman silas swope promised so much him and the supervisor of the installer came out one day and said that they do this, do that, nothing was done. I talked to what i believed to be some big wigs of galaxie home remodeling i could not get no help at all, playing phone tag is no fun. Some of windows look great (2) out of (21) please help me in this situation i do not know what to do. Galaxie just left us in a mess.

July 26, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) — Galaxie Home Improvements, one of the Chicago area’s largest home remodelers, has declared bankruptcy.

Helen McKinney used Galaxie for her Chatham kitchen remodel last summer, and wanted to update the bathroom this spring. She’s says the Galaxie salesman called her.

“He asked me, ‘Helen are you ready to do that other work again?’ And I thought about it and I said, ‘Yes,'” Helen McKinney.

What McKinney didn’t realize was that since last she used Galaxie, the company’s rating with the Better Business Bureau dropped to an F. Last week Galaxie filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after cashing McKinney’s check for $4,000.

“I’m just disgusted. $4,000, you just don’t have to give away,” McKinney said.

The bankruptcy filing lists hundreds of thousands of dollars of Galaxie’s debt. The list of debt includes contractors, supplies and media outlets for advertising — including WLS.

The Better Business Bureau of Chicago and Northern Illinois received 15 complaints about Galaxie in three weeks.

“People just don’t take the time necessary to do their homework- and it can cost them thousands,” Steve Bernas, Better Business Bureau said. Bernas recommends homeowners do a little research on the company they want to use by checking them out at chicago.bbb.org

At Galaxie in Lincolnwood, the doors are locked. The attorney representing the company says the home renovation business is shutdown and what happens to its assets, its customers and its employees will be up to a bankruptcy judge.

“They were supposed to start the last week but nobody showed up,” McKinney said. “I am a retiree on a fixed income and that does not come easily.”
